Project Details
Client: Jebel Ali Refinery Expansion Project (ENOC)
Location: JAFZA, UAE
Services Provided: Blower Door Test, Civil Thermograph
Project Overview
Cornerstone was entrusted with conducting essential building envelope assessments as part of the Jebel Ali Refinery Expansion Project undertaken by ENOC in JAFZA, UAE. The project aimed to ensure the structural integrity and energy efficiency of the refinery's new facilities through comprehensive testing and thermographic analysis.
Scope of Work
- Blower Door Test: Our team conducted blower door tests to evaluate the air tightness of the newly constructed buildings. By pressurizing and depressurizing the building envelope, we identified areas of air leakage, such as gaps and cracks, enabling targeted remediation efforts to enhance energy efficiency and indoor comfort.
- Civil Thermography: Utilizing advanced thermographic cameras, we performed civil thermography inspections to assess the thermal performance of building components and identify potential issues, including thermal bridging, moisture intrusion, and insulation deficiencies. These inspections provided critical insights to optimize building envelope design and construction quality.
Benefits to the Client
- Energy Efficiency: By identifying and addressing air leakage and thermal deficiencies, our assessments helped ENOC achieve higher energy efficiency in the new refinery facilities, resulting in reduced energy consumption, lower utility costs, and minimized environmental impact.
- Structural Integrity: Through civil thermography, we ensured the structural integrity of the buildings by detecting hidden defects and vulnerabilities that could compromise their stability and durability. This proactive approach mitigated risks and supported the safe and reliable operation of the refinery.
- Compliance Assurance: Our tests and inspections ensured compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices for building envelope performance and energy conservation, demonstrating ENOC's commitment to sustainability and quality in refinery expansion projects.
- Cost Savings: By addressing air leakage and thermal issues early in the construction phase, ENOC avoided costly retrofits and repairs post-construction, optimizing project budgets and timelines while delivering superior building performance.
Conclusion
Cornerstone's blower door tests and civil thermography inspections played a crucial role in enhancing the energy efficiency, structural integrity, and sustainability of ENOC's Jebel Ali Refinery Expansion Project in JAFZA, UAE.
